Reflection on U.N. projects
Posted on June 2nd, 2007 at 2:42 am by katie6 and

What do you remeber, think strange, interesting or weird about the presentations in class???

I thought that the projects in class were very interesting. I found out all about different issues in the world. Some topics that interested me was the HIV/AIDs presentation and Refugees. I learned that if you have HIV/AIDs there is no cure and that you can only slow it down. And that there are 50 million refugees in the world mostly coming from the middle east and Africa.

What would you change to improve your project/presentation if you were to do the assignment again?

To improve our presentation I think that our group should have done an iMovie instead of a Wiki. I also think that we should have told the scroller/page clicker what pages to go to and in what order. O ther than that I think our group did a good job.

Response to Kay Lynn’s Current Events

current events writer: Kay Lynn

How do Kay Lynn’s curents event and my current event related???

Our current events are related because both of our topics were about fire and the fire destroying someones property. On kay Lynn’s posting a fire destroyed ten shops and on my posting a fire destroyed an oil plant.

What did I find interesting about the posting?

I found it interesting that the fire happened in malaysia, which is where I go to school and live. I also found it interesting that they were only able to identefy two of the people hurt by the fire. There was a whole other family in the building when the fire happened and they don’t know who they are!!!

What did I like about the initial blog posting??

As I said before the main thing that I liked about here posting was that it was in malaysia. I have probably seen the place that the fire was and now it has been destroyed. I think Kay Lynn did a good job with trhis presentation but next time should consider trying to mak her citation short and not go onto the side tool bars. Overall I think Kay Lynn did a good job.

answer to my question
Posted on May 4th, 2007 at 9:50 pm by katie6 and

My question was #7: do I think the U.N. is very sucessful? why or why not?

I do notr think the U.N. is very sucessful becasuse the paragragh we read in class only had 1 thing about it being sucessful; helping seperate North and South Korea. The rest of the paragraghs were abou8t how the U.N. had failed in alot of its missions. The packets said the U.N.  had failed alo9t of their missions which ended in alot of people being killed. Some of the peace keepers from the U.N. killed people trying to find a gang and parts of a broken army. That is why I think the U.N. is unsuccesful

What is the issue???

The issue is that a bolt of lightning hit an oil plant in Oklahoma, USA on friday. When firefighters thought that they had most of the fire out and under control, 2 more barrels of oil exploded. The fire went on for almost all night and there was so much smoke that you could see it miles away. So far they have not found any bodies.

Who is involved???

the owner of the plant

firefighters

petrol stations

workers at the oil plant

Who is affected and how???

the owner of the oil plant is affected because part of his company was just destroyed in as huge fire.

The firefighters because they had to spend a whole night trying to put out a fire.

Petrol stations becausethey got alot of there oil from this plant and since it has been destroyed they can’t anymore

Workers at the plant because they lost there jobs and now have to find new ones

What would I do if I was directly involved???

After the fire is out I would get a search crew to try and see if they can find any people that were killed by the fire. I would also help the owner rebuild his oil plant and put lightning conducters all around the plant.

Famous Egyptian reflection

What did I learn???

I learned that alot of the gods and goddesses were related to each other. that Bes was very popular. That Horus was so mad at his step mother he destroyed alot of the temples that she made. That Set was evil and killed his brother Osiris. I learned so  much about alot of different gods.

What did I find interesting???

I found it interesting when every one dressed up as a god or goddess. This really helped me visualize what the real gods and goddesses looked like. I also found it really interesting when a person in my class would talk about a person they were related to that was in the class.

 Who am I???

Hey everybody, I’m Bes and I’m a fat, ugly, dwarf.

The reason I look like this is to scare off evil spirits about to harm you.

I’m Bes protector of children and women, the most popular god of all Egypt.

Who am I???

I’m the god of childbirth, joy, music, pleasure, restless sleep, and I protect people from evil spirits. I protect babies through young children. To protect people I use knives, swords, harps, and tambourines. I wear a panther or lion skin with the tail still attached.

I have many different roles helping many different people in Egypt.

Why was I so important???

I was so important because I helped people in many ways like protecting them. Ladies in labor would recite a spell calling me “Monkey in Old Age”. I helped the young through the old. I also brought good luck to families

I was very important to women and children.

What did people do to worship me???

To worship me people put my image on a lot of household items. When people drew me I was drawn face forward instead of in profile. I was the most popular god. My image was also carved into tombs.

People used my image everywhere!!!

Protector of people, most popular god, that’s me!!! Bes!!!

I love to help people because in return they make me popular.

I’m Bes a Nubian, Pygmy, dwarf!!!

I liked How micheal gave alot of info about the topic. I also liked his what i would do if I was directly involved because it is a good idea. Well done Micheal!!!

Who is invlolved???

security forces

Who is Afected and How???

The security forces because they killed 7 people and lost 2 of there men

The people who were killed because they are dead

The people who were injured because they got hurt stand up for there beleifs

The president and Prime minester because they are the ones people are protesting about

What Would I do if I was Directly involved???

If I was involved then I would talk to the president and prime minister about the protesters and talk to the protesters about writing notes to them so that they don’t get hurt and don’t hurt anyone.

wiki reflection

what did I learn from this task???

I learned all these different facts about ancient africa that I never knew before. I didn’t know that there was a place called songhai and it was HUGE!!!!!

Did I find this task diificult or easy???Why???

I found this task a bit difficult because it was hard to find some of the information. alot of the time when your were searching for things the computer would give you everything except for the info that you want

What would I change about the process we went through to complete this wiki???

I would not really change what we did because we got through it effetively with enough time to do everything

what new info has emerged?

  • 5million kids aren’t goimg to school in Afganistan
  • more kids are going now than in 2001
  • there aren’t enough teachers

what did I find interesting about this topic?

I found this topic in teresting because we are lucky enough to go to school. I also liked how this paragraph made me wonder what it would be like to work all day than go to school.

what did I like about the blog posting?

I liked the way stephan wrote about”what I would do if I was directly involved” paragraph. I didn’t like how he made some of his paragraphs two sentences or really short
